Our Story Begins in 1970
Our family's journey in the handloom industry began with Sri Muthyalu, whose passion for weaving laid the foundation for everything we do today.
Before establishing his own weaving business, Sri Muthyalu worked with Khadi Gram Udyog, where he gained valuable experience in traditional handloom weaving and textile craftsmanship. In 1970, he began his independent journey by employing skilled weavers and producing a wide variety of authentic handloom sarees.
Over the following decades, the family became trusted suppliers to many well-known saree retailers across India. Every saree reflected a commitment to quality, authenticity, and traditional craftsmanship that continues to define our business today.
A Legacy of Innovation
While preserving traditional weaving techniques, Sri Muthyalu also believed that handloom craftsmanship should continue to evolve.
His expertise in colour development earned him the First Prize for Colour Dyeing from the Government of Karnataka in 1977, recognising his exceptional contribution to traditional dyeing techniques.
He also introduced innovative concepts that combined the beauty of Pochampally Ikkat with Indian artistic traditions, including value-added sarees inspired by Madhubani and Pattachitra art. His work also explored eco-friendly dyeing methods, reflecting a commitment to both craftsmanship and innovation.
Carrying the Tradition Forward
Born and brought up in Pochampally, Shankar Tadaka grew up surrounded by handlooms, artisans, colours, and weaving. From an early age, he developed a deep appreciation for the patience, precision, and artistry behind every authentic handwoven saree.
In 2018, he founded Shree Handlooms with a vision of bringing genuine Pochampally Sarees and other premium handloom collections directly to customers who appreciate authenticity and quality.
Rather than simply offering a large catalogue, every saree is personally selected by Shankar. Each design is chosen based on weaving quality, colour combinations, craftsmanship, and elegance, ensuring that customers receive only carefully curated collections.
